I love this song so much. It’s my #1 non-Empires dancing around the house and cleaning song. They’re touring, so check the website: http://saintsofvalory.com/ for dates and go support a brilliant band!

It’s really awesome just to play around with them. If you don’t have one, you can pick up an off-brand speedlite for super cheap on Amazon. You get hundreds of gels and the possibilities are endless. I can’t wait to get the chance to play around some more, even though I, too, am in the available light camp. And I know there are people who will just be like lol Photoshop will apply any color filter you want you crazy bitch, but that is completely besides the point and sometimes the finished product in PS leaves a lot to be desired even if you’re shooting in RAW. /wah
I don’t know how many of you would be into it, but you can get a Rosco Cinegels swatchbook for free. Shipping and Handling is $7.50 but for what you’re getting that’s a steal. Rosco puts out these free swatchbooks in the hopes that you’ll buy larger gels for studio lighting, but amazingly the swatches fit shoe-mounted strobes perfectly. If you don’t want to spring for a gel holder (about $20 on Amazon but worth it imo), you can attach the gel with a rubber band though it will cut down on the life expectancy, especially at higher flash outputs. You also get data on the transmission curves for each filter, which I think is ballin.
This was the first time I successfully paid for Sean’s beer, Max was not in the shadows, and the guy they have drumming was fucking awesome.
Highlights include: me (completely off my face) explaining Nerdcore to SVV, bitching about dismal PGH turnout (unless it’s Poison or some other byproduct of the 80s), Redditing, discussing building a fire pit with Sean (wat), hearing about Ryan (sad), talking about the worst venue in Pittsburgh, found art newsboy caps, gooby pls being a thing you say in public, and learning that Sean tends bar which I think is adorable. Some girl spilled her beer and he totally got a bar rag to clean it up himself. He is such a nice guy.
Also the following phrase: Pittsburgh is all red brick and blue collar.
There was light (like I was able to shoot at 1/125 which never ever happens at Empires shows). There are photos. I’ll up them soon.
